I wrote this script as a practice for communicating between two computers by TCP/IP. And it's a nice example using console control by ANSI escape sequences. As the game starts it asks you with what colour you're playing. One player uses red, the other player uses white. The white player will be asked for a hostname (which must be resolved by a DNS server or host file entry). Enter the hostname of a red player's system. For testing purposes you might start the game twice on the same computer and use 'localhost'. It works fine on a Linux system.
Use the , and . Keys for moving left and right. Use the space bar for dropping your block.

A simple version of Tic Tac Toe which has to be run as a CGI script on a webserver. Simply download the script and place it into your CGI-bin directory. Start it by entering the URL http://myhost/cgi-bin/tictactoe.pl .

One of my favorite games, good old Repton. But it's annoying when you get stuck and can't continue because you have to enter a password before entering the next level. The author of the Linux version of Repton describes how you might find out the passwords. And that information is the basic of the Repton Password Cracker.

The scripts 'index.pl' and 'keywords.pl' need a configuration file (example included in downloaded archive) for information about the files, keywords, directories and icons. All of these scripts use a template file which contains the layout of the resulting page. Take a look at the files and their configuration files and the usage should be clear. The scripts give a message about their syntax if you start them without any parameters. The indexmkr.zip archive also contains a Rexx version of the script.
